Sports Development
The focus of the Sport Development project in Bali is on developing both physical and social skills for the students that we teach. Our Sport Development project operates in a village about 30 minutes by car from Denpasar.
This project is well suited to volunteers who are passionate about sports and youth development, and who wish to share their passion with young people and future community leaders.
As a volunteer on this project, you will usually work with children from Grade 1 to Grade 6 (Primary School) and Grade 7 to Grade 9 (Junior High School) and you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of creative and innovative Physical Education lessons which link directly to the learning outcomes and curriculum set out by the Bali Education Department.
As you will be volunteering alongside the local team and local teachers, you do not need to have in-depth experience teaching or coaching to participate on this project.
AT THIS TIME DUE TO THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 IN THE COMMUNITIES WE WORK WITH WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING SESSIONS
AFL Sports Teaching
As a volunteer on the AFL (Australian Football) Sports Teaching project in Bali, you will be working with High School Students to develop their interest in AFL. In addition to the physical benefits of participating in a sport like AFL, this project helps in developing mental discipline, as well as enhancing alertness and coordination among the students you will be working with.
This project is well suited to individuals with a love of sport and real enthusiasm for supporting youth development and working with young people.
When volunteering on this project, you will be using AFL Sports Teaching as a platform to instruct the students about working as a team, bringing the best out of the players, and developing their self-confidence. At the same time, students will have the opportunity to practice their English and create meaningful connections with international volunteers. This project is open to all volunteers, and previous AFL experience is not a prerequisite.
NGO Support
On the NGO Support project, highly motivated volunteers can gain experience working with Via Sport in Bali through a range of administrative tasks and activities. Volunteers may help with organising community sporting events such as sporting games on weekends, social media posts, organisational development, research, information seminars and educational workshops. The tasks each volunteer will do will depend on their skills and experience, in addition to the needs of Via Sport at the time. Volunteers are required to be open-minded, flexible and motivated.
ACCOMODATION, WIFI AND TRANSPORT
Volunteers are accommodated in a volunteer house. There are 3 large volunteer rooms, each with 2 bunkbeds (bedding provided). Hence, volunteers can expect to share a room with 2-3 other volunteers. Males and females will be accommodated in separate rooms. There is a communal kitchen where breakfast is prepared and there is refrigeration space (limited) for volunteers to store perishables. The Volunteer house has 3 bathrooms (2 traditional bathrooms and 1 western toilet with hot water and shower). Volunteers will need to bring their own towel and toiletries. The accommodation is safe and secure with the volunteer house located in a capital city of Denpasar, Bali near schools and partners volunteers will work at. The house is comfortable with air conditioning, fast Wi-Fi connection (up to 20 Mbps), traditional brick backyard and two living rooms, which act as a perfect space to chill-out in between volunteering and exploring Bali. Operations managers Bushido and Hendra will also live at the house to ensure any questions or concerns are easily answered during volunteer stay and the house is professionally cleaned once a week.
