Program Overview

Learn and apply principles of International Development in a local community whilst experiencing the best Balinese culture has to offer in this immersive travel experience.

This travel experience has been designed to upskill participants in the field of International Development.

You will be working closely with our partner organisations and the community you will be situated in to apply lessons learned that help initiate and sustain community development projects.

The trip will conclude with a week long experience designed to expose you to wider Bali and learn about Balinese culture.

Who is Supporting you?


Via Sport

Via Sport is a local organisation commiting to using the power of sport as a development tool. Via Sport will facilitate the local community development projects you will be working on as well as providing local volunteering opportunities teaching kids sport and providing accommodation and meals for your stay.  


Real Indonesia

Real Indonesia provides travellers with authentic small group travel experiences to exotic new destinations throughout the Indonesian archipelago, beyond the tourist strips of Bali. Real Indonesia is an Australian business which partners directly with local Indonesian tour providers and markets their experiences to international customers. Real Indonesia supports local economic development in Indonesia and operates on a sustainable tourism model - having low impact on the environment and local culture.


Bottle for Botol

Our oceans are drowning with 150 million tons of plastic pollution. This is a problem because plastic never goes away, harming our marine life and people. But we’re not too late. Bottle for Botol runs an education program that helps young people combat plastic pollution and move away from single-use plastics. For good.


Econome

Econome is an emerging online education platform that aims to promote and engage students in coursework aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG’s). Econome takes on a pedagogical approach of delivering personalised learning experiences that deliver practical knowledge designed to inspire purpose within individuals.  


Swimdo

Swimdo is an organization whose mission is to protect and enrich the lives of children through aquatic education. Swimdo is based in Bali and has swimming programs in Sukawati, Keramas, and Amed as well as outreach programs in Kalimantan, Borneo. Since its inception in 2015, Swimdo has taught over 1,700 kids survival swimming and water safety skills.

  • The major community development project you will be working on will be educating children around principles of sustainability

  • The programs our partners run promote inclusivity and are responsible for increasing women’s participation in sport by 20% as well as assisting women entrepreneurs become empowered through their skill-sets.


UNSDG #11: Sustainable Cities & Communities

  • The major community development project will be enabling local educators to teach and implement sustainable practices at their local schools  


UNSDG #12: Responsible Consumption & Production

  • Specifically, you will be enabling high schools to reduce their plastic wastage through assisting their transition away from a reliance on plastic water ‘cups’ to aluminum water bottles whilst educating them on the positive impact this transition will have on the environment.
